Safety-driven solutions for modern drilling operations
James Fisher and Sons provides a comprehensive range of specialist drilling solutions designed to enhance safety and operational efficiency. Mud coolers and both diesel and electric compressors deliver stable, reliable performance in demanding offshore environments.
Our range of safety bails and weak link bails deliver controlled failure protection during well completion and workover operations to protect personnel, reduce the risk of equipment damage and make drilling operations safer.
Why partner with James Fisher?

Systems compliant with ISO 13628-7 safety requirements for drilling operations

Field-proven performance, successfully deployed in demanding oilfield environments worldwide

High pressure compressors
The latest generation of electric compressors reduce CO2 emissions during drilling operations and boost productivity, with longer uptime between services and a compact, stackable footprint to save on deck space. They are fully-compliant with NORSOK Z-015 Revision 4 and meet SOLAS and MODU CODE requirements.
James Fisher supplies air compressors with a capacity of up to 50m2/min and a working pressure of up to 30 bar. Diesel compressors are also available, with both available in multiple sizes and performance levels to meet the exact requirements of your project.

Mudcooler
Our ultra-compact mud cooling system is based on unique pleat cooler technology. Combined with an automated solid control system (Cleantech), James Fisher Energy’s mudcooler technology provides a step-change for mud cooling and zero discharge drilling.
Key specifications:
- Fully redundant system
- 2 x 100m 3 /h (2 x 440gpm)
- 6-8mw of cooling
- 1.9m 2 footprint
- Can be positioned with pallet trolleys

Safety bails
James Fisher Energy has invested in Safety Bails, an innovative controllable failure system that improves the safety of semi-submersibles and drill ships during completion workover rise operations to comply with ISO 13628-7 standards.
The development of Safety Bails demonstrates our continued commitment to the offshore oil and gas industry worldwide, by enhancing safe operations, reducing risk to personnel and addressing both operational and environmental concerns.
Safety bails provide a controlled failure mechanism at a pre-determined load depending on the requirements and weight of the landing string. This, in turn, reduces the risk of damage to expensive equipment, increases the safety of the drill installation operatives and minimises the risk of environmental contamination.

Weak link bails
Weak Link Bails are designed to prevent serious incidents that can lead to the total breakdown of the derrick/rig with associated equipment and the risk of loss of life in connection with drilling operations on floating exploration and production units.
This equipment acts as the weakest link, and undergoes controlled breaks when the conditions dictate, before fixed equipment gives way. Weak Link Bails comply with ISO 13628-7 Chp 6.7.1

High pressure booster
For safety reasons, the control station is easily accessible from the perimeter of the oilfield skid as are the drains from the scrubber bottles. The booster has a 30-gallon diesel day tank for run-up checks and servicing and is remotely fuelled from a separate bulk tank for operation.
Applications of high pressure boosters:
- Air drilling
- Under balanced drilling and nitrogen boosting
- Pipeline dewatering, pigging and testing
