An international energy operator required a Zone 2-compliant high-pressure water supply system to deliver well testing activity. James Fisher supported our customer with a custom-designed booster pump system configured to the rig’s layout.
Key Statistics
Customer challenge
This project required a reliable, high-pressure water supply to feed a water deluge system for heat attenuation during well testing activity. Electrical submersible and booster pumps were to be Zone 2-rated so they could safely function where flammable gases or vapours may be present.
Solution for our customer
James Fisher designed, built and tested a bespoke booster pump system configured to the rig’s layout. Specialist technicians also fabricated an A-frame to maximise available space during installation of the submersible pump through the moonpool.
Our impact to our customer
- Considerable increase in deluge water delivery and pressure during function testing
- Safe operations and continuous uptime were prioritised by switching to the secondary pump during high ambient temperatures and increasing inspection frequency
- Maximised deck space, enabling installation beneath existing rig infrastructure
- Improved personal and operational safety utilising Zone 2 classified equipment to meet the regulator and customer’s specifications
