Airport and MOPORT assurance for rapid submarine rescue mobilisation
Ensuring readiness for rapid submarine rescue mobilisation
Time to First Rescue is critical in any submarine emergency. To receive and deploy a Global Flyaway Submarine Rescue System, nations need airports and mobilisation ports that are fully prepared for the movement of aircraft, equipment and personnel.
JFD’s Airport and MOPORT Assurance Service provides proactive assessments of infrastructure, logistics and operational readiness, helping navies identify constraints before an emergency callout.
Engagements can be delivered as a one off evaluation or as a recurring service plan, covering a single site or multiple locations, aligned to your operational scope and readiness objectives.

Why it matters ?
Locations previously used for submarine rescue mobilisation may no longer meet current requirements. Without a proactive assessment, issues such as customs control, crane capacity or route obstructions can delay operations and impact rescue timelines.
-
Focused on protecting Time to First Rescue through improved mobilisation readiness
-
Covers the full mobilisation chain from airport arrival through ground transit to MOPORT
-
Assesses infrastructure, equipment, processes and local support services
-
Tailored for one location or multiple global locations
-
Delivered by a team with extensive experience in global flyaway system deployments, including emergency response responsibility for two flyaway systems

What we assess?
The assurance service reviews readiness gaps at every point in the mobilisation chain, with practical checks that reflect how a flyaway submarine rescue system is received, moved and deployed.
Airport readiness
- Runway suitability for military and cargo aircraft
- Airport size and handling capacity
- Lifting equipment availability, including specialised equipment to unload rescue assets
- Onsite logistics support
- Command and control for goods receiving, including customs and dangerous goods
Ground transit viability
- Availability of suitable road transport and escort arrangements
- Route analysis covering bridge limits, load widths, congestion and obstruction risks, travel time and local legislation
- End to end connection between airport and MOPORT
MOPORT capability
- Berth suitability for large assets and lifting operations
- Crane availability and capacity
