Marine safety systems
James Fisher’s marine safety systems provide all types of stress analysis and design verification to ensure continued operational safety and efficiency.
We offer a range of systems which provide complete safety solutions to meet the specific operational needs of our clients.
We are experienced in providing long-term solutions for the unpredictable and often severe challenges posed by operating in the harsh marine environment, helping customers avoid potentially costly and dangerous consequences.
Our jetty and berth management systems have been developed to work continuously in difficult and often hazardous environments. Reliability is essential, as vessels and equipment operating around the world depend on our systems to ensure safe and efficient operations.
Jetty and berth management systems include:
- Docking systems
- Intelligent fenders
- Mooring load monitoring
- Load arm position monitoring
- Quick release mooring hooks
- Jetty management systems
Our range of monitoring systems for all types of marine and offshore vessels are based on over 45 years' experience of load and force measurement. They have been developed to improve both operational safety and efficiency for our clients.
Ship/vessel monitoring includes:
- Towing load monitoring
- Vessel Motion Monitoring System (VMMS)™
- Hull stress monitoring
- Intelligent fenders
- Offshore Wind Management System (OWMS)™
- Structural monitoring
The container weight system (CWS)™ is a real-time container weight verification system. CWS™ integrates our strain gauge technology with industry standard twist locks to create an accurate load measurement solution.
CWS™ has been developed in response to industry needs to accurately verify container weights and identify eccentric loading conditions.
CrackFirst™ is a fatigue testing sensor for welded joints in steel structures that is capable of providing advanced warning of the rate at which the design life is being used by sensing the actual amount of fatigue damage suffered.
We provide a fatigue life monitoring service to developers of prototype vehicles and machinery using strain gauge technology at key locations to collect data whilst the vehicle/machine is subjected to testing. We analyse the data and calculate fatigue lives for each position providing a comprehensive report that can then be fed back into the design process and used for further optimisation.
We provide a wide range of strain gauged based load cells (including compression load cells and tension load cells) for use on and under sea and in hazardous areas. For more information please click here.
We provide in-situ stress measurement services for metallic components and have also developed the technique to enable 'through thickness' residual stresses to be determined. The residual stress determination services give the client fast, accurate and reliable data to aid the understanding of residual and in-situ stresses due to, for instance, manufacturing processes or 'locked in' and dead load stresses in large structures.
Our engineered solutions are backed by our extensive experience and knowledge in torque measurement. We provide a diverse range of options, from telemetry/wireless solutions to specialist solutions offering dynamic data acquisition, which are generally bespoke and developed to suit our customers' requirements.
We have many years’ experience in the integration and deployment of a variety of measurement equipment in applications involving specialist installation and/or difficult or hostile access environments. Our highly skilled team of engineers and technicians are qualified to British Society of Strain Measurement standards to undertake sensor installation.
