Safety first as Prolec launches new load and position monitoring system

Prolec has recently launched the latest variant on its Prolec Machine Engine (PME) platform, PME500.

PME is a modular, integrated system that can manage both safety and efficiency functions in a single system. A number of variants are available depending on customer requirements. PME500 combines real-time load and positioning, meaning the operator can maintain the machine within its safe operational envelope and loading weight by combining real-time positioning with an accurate on-board weighing system.

As Gary Tuffy, director of sales and marketing at Prolec, explains:

“This new system rounds out our offering of safety products on the PME platform. The underlying product, PME, is the key to the product’s success – especially as we now offer a ‘no hardware’ upgrade allowing changes just as you would add an app to your phone. It has an easy-to-use graphical interface that displays the carried load in real time, simultaneously showing the limits for height and slew, both of which can be set according to the operational or environmental requirements of the equipment. A warning sounds on approach to the maximum safe working load.”

PME500, which is available as a standalone system, or as a simple upgrade to existing PME systems is fully compliant with EU and UK LOLER requirements for safe load indicators and is type approved for operation in all EU countries.

Gary concludes:

“The whole Prolec team is really proud of what we have achieved with PME500. As well as ensuring compatibility with all major OE manufacturers of construction equipment, it brings improved safety and increased productivity possibilities to a wide range applications including excavators, mobile cranes, truck-mounted cranes, agricultural machinery and special purpose machines.”
