Subsea investment

James Fisher has enhanced its capability in the offshore sector with the purchase of subsea assets from X-Subsea and S3.

As part of James Fisher’s drive to provide a fully integrated service offering to its customers, the company is always on the lookout for new investments. So when X-Subsea UK Holdings Ltd and Specialist Subsea Services Ltd (S3) went into receivership, James Fisher took the opportunity to acquire their assets to further complement the group’s existing capabilities.

The X-Subsea mass flow excavation tools (many of which are patented) are used in challenging environments for seabed preparation tasks, burial and deburial of cables and pipeline and other excavation requirements. They will now be combined with the existing HydroDigger and TwinProp equipment as part of James Fisher Subsea Excavation

Kenneth Mackie, managing director of James Fisher Subsea Excavation, says;

"We’re extremely pleased that our fleet has been further strengthened by the addition of the equipment acquired from X-Subsea, and what this enables us to offer our customers in terms of availability and the ability to support subsea projects worldwide. We now have the world’s largest subsea excavation fleet!"

In addition to this, James Fisher has also acquired a number of subsea assets from S3; work-class ROVs, an inspection-class ROV and a range of survey equipment. This equipment fleet supports the development of James Fisher’s subsea survey and intervention services that includes inspection, repair and maintenance, offshore installation and construction support, seabed mapping and geophysical surveys to the oil and gas and renewable industries.

Together, the X-Subsea and S3 purchases consolidate and strengthen James Fisher’s position as a subsea service provider delivering a fully integrated solution to its customers worldwide. James Fisher aims to help its customers simplify their supply chain as well as benefit from a partner that will respond immediately to their needs during the completion of complex subsea projects.
