Number one for operational excellence

James Fisher Shipping Services has won the top operational excellence award at this year’s Tanker Shipping and Trade Conference for its unprecedented performance record.

James Fisher Shipping Services (JFSS) is thrilled to have won the operational excellence award at the second Tanker Shipping and Trade Conference in London. The award, given to JFSS for its unprecedented performance record, acknowledges Galway Fisher’s 4,700 days of operation without a single Lost Time Injury as well as the entire JFSS fleet keeping consistently under incident targets since 2012.

‘Outstanding performance records do not just happen by accident but are proof of a company truly committed to operational excellence. This cannot be achieved without a genuine commitment to continuous improvement and the fact that James Fisher has achieved such a record with ships operating in busy, coastal waters is particularly noteworthy,'

says Rob Ashdown, secretary general of the International Association of Classification Societies who sat on the awards advisory panel which drew up the shortlist put to panel vote at the ceremony.

JFSS fleet director, Neil Burns says;

‘This award recognises the dedication, expertise and sheer professionalism of all our staff ashore and at sea. Safety underpins our business – in fact our overall safety culture within the company is the catalyst that drives home success in operational excellence.’

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jim Mason who was technical manager of James Fisher's tanker fleet. We offer our condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.
