Full confidence in James Fisher's pollution response services

James Fisher has been selected by EMSA to deliver emergency pollution response.

If disaster strikes and there’s a catastrophic oil spillage anywhere off the coast of the UK, Ireland or North West Europe you can rest assured that James Fisher’s vessels will be among those available to provide at-sea oil recovery services.

The long-term contract with EMSA (the European Maritime Safety Agency) to provide emergency pollution response services was given a further boost this summer (May 2015) with an ‘oil spillage’ exercise off the coast of Northern France.

"To make the scenario more authentic and challenging, straw was thrown into the water (which floats to simulate oil, without polluting the area), which we had to 'sweep up',"

says Tony Kirk, operations procurement manager of James Fisher Everard.

In 2013 the EMSA contract covering the UK West Coast and Ireland, was expanded to include the East Coast forming a total contract worth €5 million over four years.

"Each drill and exercise is very much a team effort, but two key team members from James Fisher Shipping Services – ship manager, Mark Armistead, and assistant project superintendent, Kevin Hart – ensure that these run smoothly,"

adds Tony.
