Season's greetings

It seems only a few months ago that we were reflecting on 2020, a year like no other, and emerging into what we hoped would be a new post-COVID-19 world. With global vaccination programs making a vital impact, we will surely put this devastating pandemic behind us at some point, but it is clear we need to continue to adapt, both as individuals and as a business, to coexist with the health and economic challenges of this endemic virus.

I am thankful for the unstinting diligence and dedication shown across the Group but despite improvements in several operating companies we have seen reduced profitability, and this experienced is mirrored in our markets and among our customers.

But my message to you all is to take heart: as we work diligently to serve our customers; to engage with the communities in which we operate; to deploy an ambitious environmental strategy; and to stitch together a series of financial results in line with the expectation of the financial markets – I am certain we will see confidence return.

Never before have our valued behaviours – pioneering spirit, integrity, energy and resilience – been more needed, and more evident. But while the road ahead may not be easy, we must remember we are the people who pioneer solutions to complex problems in hazardous locations, and together we will create a sustainable future for our stakeholders, ourselves, and each other.

We have embarked on our journey to be purpose led, values-driven, serving all our stakeholders, and I have every confidence that if we stay the course, we will prevail.

Wishing you and yours the safest and happiest of holiday seasons, I look forward to seeing you all again in the New Year.
