Raising money is a stroll for JFMS

A team from JFMS and Galloper Offshore Wind Farm participated in a coastal walk in order to raise money for the East Anglian Air Ambulance.

On the 20 July 2016 a team from James Fisher Marine Services (JFMS) and Galloper Offshore Wind Farm (Galloper) completed a 17.2 mile walk along the East coast. The team participated in the coastal walk in order to raise money for the East Anglian Air Ambulance.

On a glorious summer's day in July, the JFMS and Galloper team took part in a walk along the coastline from Dunwich to Lowestoft. For the majority of the day, the team walked along the beautiful sandy beaches which the East Anglian coast has to offer. However, they also passed through the Suffolk Coast National Nature reserve as well as the picturesque town of Southwold.

The walk was organised by Galloper, and there were around 80 participants in total. The event managed to raise an amazing £10,000 for the Air Ambulance. David Smail, project manager at JFMS working on the Galloper contract, commented on the event saying:

"It was a brilliant effort by all involved."

David went on to highlight that the money raised is going to a fantastic cause as the Air Ambulance service is massively dependent on charitable donations due to the fact it doesn't receive regular government funding. The East Anglia Air Ambulance offers a 24/7 helicopter emergency medical service 365-days-a-year to anyone who is need of their assistance. As a charity, they rely on fundraising and donations to continue providing this service. If you would like to donate, their website can be found at: www.eaaa.org.uk

After over 6 hours of walking the team eventually finished the walk and enjoyed a nice barbecue and cold drinks at the newly establish Galloper Offshore Wind Farm construction coordination base. Finally, the organisers gave everyone who finished the event a medal to wear. A massive well done to everyone involved.
