MeyGen picks JFMS for O&M

James Fisher Marine Services has been awarded preferred supplier status with MeyGen.

James Fisher Marine Services has been awarded preferred supplier status for a five-year period to work on operations and maintenance (O&M) for the turbines at the MeyGen tidal energy array in Scotland.

This builds on the existing long tern relationship JFMS has had with MeyGen since its construction in 2014. The O&M contract will provide emergency backup and breakdown services. It will include the recovery of turbines as well as the use of Mojo Maritime's sophisticated Mermaid weather planning risk assessment software.

Three phase 1A tidal turbines will installed and connected to Mojo working with JFMS this year, and there is potential for the preferred supplier status to extend beyond this five-year contract.
