JFTS to deliver structural health monitoring upgrades for the CCITSE in France
Optimising asset performance and improving safety for the Chambre de Commerce et d'Industrie Territoriale Seine Estuaire (CCITSE) in Normandy.
Structural health monitoring specialist, James Fisher Testing Services (JFTS), is to provide a comprehensive structural health monitoring (SHM) system for the CCITSE - operator of three major bridges in Normandy.
The project, which will upgrade and in some cases replace existing instrumentation and data acquisition hardware, will see JFTS install its pioneering BridgeWatch® solution to automate and gather intelligent structural health insights. Acquiring real-time data, the system uses advanced processing to improve safety, to manage traffic flow and to minimise bridge closures due to unscheduled maintenance.
Problems associated with an existing system which had been installed by another SHM provider highlighted the need for a solution that was capable of analysing large volumes of raw data and providing detailed analysis on structural condition. Following a competitive tender process JFTS’ BridgeWatch® system was singled out as the desired solution.
Data from two iconic cable stayed bridges - the Pont de Normandie and the Pont de Tancarville - and from the rigid steel-framed Pont sur le Grand Canal du Havre will be managed in the BridgeWatch® cloud-based solution which will provide automated and intelligent structural health information. Engineering consultancy COWI will be able to analyse this data to offer highly accurate insights into the condition of the three bridges and to deliver long-term strategies for optimising structural performance.
