Job Purpose

To verify that the engineering output generated by James Fisher Nuclear Ltd meets the requirements of both internal and external specifications and standards. This includes checking procured items  internally and externally, manufactured against engineering drawings/specifications, and checking of supporting documentation.

Key duties and responsibilities

  • Inspection of internally manufactured items
  • Inspection and goods receipt of bought in or externally manufactured items
  • Material goods receipt
  • Completion of inspection records
  • Generate dimensional reports
  • Liaise with management where items do not conform to specification
  • Maintain component traceability during the goods-in and inspection process
  • Accountability for managing calibration of any inspection equipment used
  • Working to project schedule requirements
  • Kitting of parts ready for production activities
  • Preparing and packing parts for despatch
  • Stock control and storage
  • Picking of materials to satisfy production schedule
  • Picking and allocation of gauges required for production schedule
  • Manage waste\disposal streams  

Key skills and competencies 

  • Work to established process/procedure
  • Knowledge of ISO quality standards and experience  of working with customer specifications in highly regulated industries
  • As required, knowledge and competency of mechanical, electrical or welding technology
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings
  • Understanding of engineering tolerances including geometric dimensions and tolerances
  • Use of manual inspection equipment – e.g. micrometres, Vernier callipers, thread gauges and relevant tools for the relevant specialist area
  • As appropriate, use of co-ordinate measuring machine (CMM) and FARO Gage
  • Familiar with machining and general manufacturing processes
  • Good IT skills – MS office
  • Close attention to detail
  • Ability to work unsupervised or as part of a team, as required

Qualifications

  • Apprenticeship or HNC\HND\Degree in engineering
  • PCDMIS experience
  • Forklift license
  • Keen interest in inspection and Quality Assurance
