Job Purpose:

To develop diving equipment in accordance with the relevant rules, regulations and standards, from concept design through to engineering release for production manufacture.

Support the R&D team with design input, generation of documentation such as test specifications and reports, hands on prototyping where necessary and design transfer activities to the engineering team.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Concept design work for clients and new product development proposals
  • Application of all relevant European and International Standards
  • Oversee progress on prototype manufacture
  • Generation of parts and bill of materials
  • Checking detailed manufacturing drawings and documentation
  • Creation of technical documentation including design briefs, specifications and test protocols
  • Liaising with other departments such as procurement and production to ensure development parts are ordered or manufactured per the development project plan
  • Technical support for existing and new build equipment
  • Design and build of test rigs and equipment
  • CE marking input to new products
  • Ensure development projects are adequately transferred to the engineering and production departments upon completion with appropriate hand over training and that the correct development and engineering processes have been adhered to with all required information included in Advitium
  • Involvement in various aspects of test and development projects including data acquisition programming and operation of the Life Support Laboratory

Other Tasks/General:

  • Other tasks as directed by the Product Engineering Manager or R&D Team Lead

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential Attributes

  • Product design experience.
  • Competent with updating and maintaining R&D documentation
  • Focused on delivering to tight deadlines and changing requirements
  • Capable of reacting to changes and willing to go the extra mile to deliver quality products
  • Minimum 3 year’s experience in an appropriate engineering field
  • Relevant engineering degree or equivalent industry experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a team structure, accept and understand management instruction and to specified timescales
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work within multiple projects at any given time
  • Flexible for travel to local or overseas sites if required

Desirable Attributes

  • Knowledge and experience of diving equipment and procedures
  • Qualified diver
  • Experience of EMC, Environmental and Pressure qualification of components
